Pistons are usually made of elastic soft materials (such as synthetic rubber), while cylinder liners are made of harder materials (hardened carbon steel, etc.). This type of structural coordination is mainly because the pistons are damaged first, and when they wear out, they lose their sealing effect, causing the pump (displacement) to decrease or even fail to work. 2. Wear characteristics of the valve and valve seat of the vulnerable parts of the mud pump.
The valve and valve seat of the reciprocating pump are also a pair of wearing parts, and their life is shorter than that of the piston or cylinder liner. If any one of them is damaged, the pump will not work normally or at all.
The main phenomenon of pump valve damage is the failure of the seal between the valve and the valve seat and the puncture of the sealing surface. The reason for its damage is generally considered to have two aspects: One is that when the pump valve is working in a normal state, the drilling fluid containing drill cuttings will flow through the annular gap of the valve seat with a certain law and energy, and continue to wash the valve. The joint surface of the seat and the valve, if scratches and grooves appear on the joint surface over time, the sealing is not tight; the second is that when the valve is closed, the joint surface of the valve seat is continuously subjected to impact load, so an impact will occur on the joint surface Fatigue breaks the scars, thereby destroying the sealing performance between the valve seats, and causing a tiny "leakage".
